Price of a kilo of sugar will be redused to 130 rupees

Minister of State Janaka Wakkumbura states that they are intervening to provide a kilo of sugar for around 130 rupees by next Wednesday.

He said commenting to the media that the Ceylon Sugar Company has taken steps to supply 1750 tons of sugar to the CWE and the cooperative societies at present.

He also explained that the Galoya Sugar Factory will supply another 600 tons of sugar today (31) and they asked Sathosa and the cooperatives to take the required quantity as soon as possible.

“So far we have sent to many Sathosa. Most of the Sathosa has sugar at present. We will have the government companies intervene to reduce the price to 130 rupees by next Wednesday.” he said.
