Negotiations are underway to bring tourists from countries that say they cannot come to Sri Lanka- Basil Rajapaksa

Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance has stated that the Government is ready to implement the necessary measures for the development of the tourism industry and related sectors by continuously providing the necessary facilities to revive the tourism industry in Sri Lanka in the face of the global epidemic situation.

The discussion was attended by a group of hoteliers, airlines and travel agencies.

Representatives of hoteliers, airlines and travel agencies informed the Minister about face issues related to attracting tourists to the country.

Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that the government would take steps to facilitate the revival of the tourism industry under a targeted program.

He further said that steps would be taken to educate other countries on the progress of the covid epidemic and the vaccination program in Sri Lanka and to hold separate discussions with countries that have imposed restrictions on travel to Sri Lanka due to the pandemic.
