Current economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka- Thirty-one individuals arrested for protesting against

Thirty-one persons were arrested by the police, two monks and two women were among those arrested, a police spokesman said.

The protest was organized by the Inter-University Students Federation against the Kotelawala Defense University Act.

The protest was jointly organized by the Ceylon Teachers Union, the Frontline Socialist Party, and the Inter-University Students Federation.

Meanwhile,13 people from Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has arrested including two former provincial councilors, during a protest in Akuressa.

They have protested over the increase in fuel prices and the fertilizer issue. The Samagi Jana Balawegaya also staged a protest near the entrance to Parliament yesterday morning over the increased fuel price and fertilizer issue.
