Helping migrants to enter the country during the Corona will be dangerous- Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources warns the public

There is a risk of migrants from neighboring countries including India entering Sri Lanka due to the spreading corona pandemic; The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources said.

The department stated that it is possible to reach Sri Lanka by sea using fishing vessels. Especially multi-day fishing vessels engaged in the fishing industry in the North Sea are advised to be more vigilant in this regard.

Accordingly, action will be taken to arrest fishermen and vessel owners who transport illegal immigrants or facilitate foreigners to enter the country with their fishing vessels and all fishing licenses issued to these vessels will be cancelled.
