Rains in Western, Sabaragamuwa today

The Department of Meteorology states that with the exclusion of a few showers in the provinces of Western and Sabaragamuwa, and districts of Galle and Matara, fair weather will prevail elsewhere.

In some parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces, nebulous conditions can be expected in the mornings.

In the north and north-west provinces, quite strong rainy winds of up to 40 kmph can be expected.

Coastal areas:

There is a possibility to shower in a few locations in the seas off the shore from Colombo via Galle to Hambantota.

In the sea areas of the island, winds will be west to southwest. The wind speed (30-40) kmph is expected.

In areas from Galle via Hambantota and in the marine area from Puttalam through Kankesanturai via Mannar, the wind speed may rise up to (50-55) kmph.

The maritime areas extending from Colombo through Galle to Hambantota are rough and the seas extending from Puttalam via Mannar to Kankesanturai are sometimes rather rough.
