14 deaths in the past 24-hours due to over 121 accidents

Fourteen deaths and A total of 121 road accidents had been reported during the past 24 hours across the country, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated. Twelve accidents were reported on Expressways and 109 accidents on the other places accross the country and around 74 persons sustained injuries, he further added. Also among them 53 motorcycle accidents and 33 three-wheeler accidents had been reported and 758 drivers had been arrested for driving after consumption of liquor. “The suspects will not be granted Police bail and the vehicles will not released. The drivers and the vehicles will be produced before the respective Magistrate Courts. If a person found guilty, the he will be imposed a fine of Rs.25, 000 by the court and the court can suspend or cancel the driving license”, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Seven Local Government Institutions in the Western Province had stopped transportation of garbage to Kerawalapitiya

The transportation of garbage to Kerawalapitiya has been suspended due to delays in the payment of seven Local Government Institutions in the Western Province. The Western Provincial Waste Management Authority states that its authority has so far transported the garbage dumped at kadirayana to Kerawalapitiya. However, the Authority states that they are facing an issue because the dues are yet not payed by the seven institutions.

Four youths arrested for driving unsafe on the Southern Expressway
