The health system can no longer bear it – Epidemiologist informs

The Epidemiology Unit says that nearly 2,000 new cases of coronavirus are being diagnosed daily, making it unbearable for the country’s health system. Its Chief Specialist Dr Sudath Samaraweera states that a large number of infected people are already being treated in hospitals. He said that more than 17,000 people are currently hospitalized in the country and that the health system could not cope with the addition of another 2,000 people a day. Therefore, all people must act responsibly and the government or the Ministry of Health alone cannot do everything, he said. He was addressing the media in Colombo.
A heated situation occurred at Maharagama Municipal Council

Following a video posted on social media, the MP attacked the Member of Parliament in the middle of the meeting. Dr Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services says that if the pandemic situation continues to increase in the country, travel restrictions will have to be imposed between provinces in the future. 2 million Facebook account in the country will be suspended – Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella states that there are around two million Facebook accounts in the country without owner and legal action would be taken to suspend them. Justice Minister Ali Sabri and himself had submitted a cabinet paper to work out a plan to take legal action to suspend and control the accounts and necessary steps would be taken as soon as they were approved; he said It was important to take such steps for the national security of the country and that such steps should be taken for the betterment of the society; he further added.
Policeman Hit a car Driver in Kandy Colombo road

A video of a person who is wearing a police t-shirt hitting a car driver is sharing on social media. According to the video the incident happened in Yakkala junction near ganemulla cushion works in Kandy Colombo road on Wednesday(May 05) “A bus belonging to Sri Lanka police was traveling from Kandy to Colombo and even it was signaling continuously asking for space it wasn’t any enough space until I come near to the Ganemulla cushion works,” the car driver said. After he slows and stops the car the police bus came overtook his car and a few of them started to hit him even before he explained the situation and snatch his car key and threw it away into the garbage strain nearby. A bike driver who witnesses the incident explained how the police bus was carelessly derived and explained how even he was in danger of an accident. Woman in Morocco gives birth to nine babies

A Morocco woman had given birth to nine babies. The Malian mother is 25 years old and her name is Halima Cissé. Mali government flew her for special care and many doctors had assisted the birth.” I’m very happy, My wife and the babies [five girls and four boys] are doing well.” her husband Adjudant Kader Arby, told the BBC. 238 arrested for forgetting face mask; Jaffna police has to drag people

238 people have been arrested for violating quarantine laws, including not wearing masks and not keeping distance during a police island-wide operation yesterday; Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated. The Police Media Spokesman said that 5486 persons have been arrested so far for violating the quarantine rules including not wearing masks and about 5400 of them have been charged so far. Wearing a face mask alone is not enough and the law will be enforced if it is not worn by hygienic practices. The police spokesman further stated that further operations are being carried out to find those who are violating the quarantine rules. Meanwhile, Jaffna Police is conducting to catch people who violating the COVID 19 rules.
Supreme Court decision on the Port City Bill handed over to the Speaker

The Speaker received the Supreme Court decision on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill yesterday (April 05). Accordingly, it will be tabled in Parliament on May 18, the Speaker said.
