A change in the methodology of reporting covid deaths

The Director-General of Health Services, Specialist Dr Asela Gunawardena says that all future deaths related to covid will be reported on the same day within the last 48 or 24 hours. Accordingly, the recent deaths that were reported earlier will not be reported under this new methodology. Earlier, we reported deaths daily, including deaths in recent days, but from today onwards, all deaths related to covid will be reported on the same day as in the last 48 hours. We now have a system in place to report all deaths within 48 to 24 hours on that day, Dr Asela Gunawardena said.
Sri Lanka Navy Arrested three individuals with 71 million worth of Kerala cannabis

The Navy arrested three suspects with a stock of Kerala cannabis worth nearly 71 million rupees in a raid carried out today morning (June 14) During the raid conducted in the seas north of Point Pedro, 237 kilos and 500 grams of Kerala cannabis were found and the dinghy transporting Kerala cannabis was also taken into custody by the Navy. The suspects had dumped six sacks of Kerala cannabis in the sea and the Navy and the Coast Guard conducted a search of the area and found them. The three suspects are aged between 28 and 29 and are residents of Point Pedro.

A VIP body has cremated by thrown another body out of the crematorium

. It is reported that the corpse of a corona infected person who had been placed for cremation at the Matugama Panthiya crematorium has been taking out and another body brought in a VIP has been cremated. The incident took place when the body of a 93-year-old woman who died of corona infection was brought to the crematorium by a hospital ambulance for cremation. Corona’s body has been taken out and placed in an ambulance for cremation until the VIP body is cremated. The public health inspectors are helpless due to an order that came from a higher authority above them. Health workers say the body was left in the ambulance for more than two hours, leaving the ambulance with no choice for using other services.
Bahrain suspends work permits for Sri Lankans

The issuance of work permits to Sri Lankans in Bahrain has been suspended immediately due to the risk of the corona. Suspect Arrested for stealing rice from a supermarket

Old busses are submerged to sea

The Navy has initiated a program to submerge old vehicles in the sea in order to enhance and beautify the biodiversity of the North Sea and to create an artificial ecosystem. The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has initiated this project using the beaches off the islands of Jaffna and the Navy is taking the lead in this project. Accordingly, as a first step, four obsolete buses in the Jaffna-Dulph seas were placed safely on the seabed by naval officers of the Northern Naval Command aboard the Ports Corporation’s Sea Mining Ship. 20 buses have been set aside for such seabed deposits so far in an attempt to create a new and more prosperous environment by creating artificial substrates on the seabed near the beach.
Presidents Media Division issued a special statement over fuel price hike
The president’s media unit has issued a special notice about the recent fuel price increase. Gas price is going to increase by 300?

The price of a domestic gas cylinder is likely to increase by around 300 rupees, the weekend Sunday Times reports. The two gas companies have sought permission from the government to increase gas prices and the ministerial subcommittee is scheduled to meet tomorrow to discuss the matter. This ministerial subcommittee is headed by Minister Bandula Gunawardena and includes Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Mahinda Amaraweera, Keheliya Rambukwella and Udaya Gammanpila..According to the reports gas companies have demanded that the price of gas should be increased by Rs. 700.
