Sri Lanka ranks first in the South Asian region in the daily covid mortality rate per million population. Sri Lanka is currently among the top eight countries in the South Asian region in terms of the number of covid deaths per day per million population. This is due to the fact that covid deaths are calculated as high as 9 per million population. Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the list. Also Covid’s death has not been reported in the last 19 days in the Maldives. There have been only three deaths in Bhutan since the beginning of the covid expansion. Previously, Sri Lanka was ranked fourth in the list, but with the rapid increase in daily deaths over the past 10 days, it appears to have topped the list.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed officials to distribute Ayurvedic medicines all over the country
