American court dismissed a rape case filed against the super football player Cristiano Ronaldo after decade of trials

  A U.S. court has ruled that a lawsuit filed against superstar Cristiano Ronaldo should be dropped after a lengthy trial. He had allegedly assaulted a woman at a Las Vegas hotel in the United States in 2009 and the woman had filed a civil rape case seeking compensation, foreign media reported. The court issued the order after more than a decade of trial.The judge stated that the case was dismissed due to the confusion of the facts presented by the plaintiff and the failure to substantiate the allegations made.

A Pfizer injection dose will be goven for all over 20 years old

State Minister of Drug Supplies and Regulation Prof. Channa Jayasumana says that it has been decided to give the third dose of Pfizer vaccine to all persons above the age of 20 years. The Minister of State states that arrangements are being made to purchase 14.5 million doses of vaccines for this purpose.

People are waiting in long ques to buy milk powder

Media reported that customers are waiting in long queues to buy a packet of milk powder in front of a local milk powder outlet in a ground floor building of a government institution in Nuwara Eliya. Only the limited quantity of milk powder supplied to the milk powder outlet by the milk powder factory in Ambewela is sold to consumers. The milk powder factory issues about 400 packets of milk powder three days a week through the outlet. A large number of people were waiting in queues infront of theoutlet even before the outleopeninged. There have several instances where some customers waiting in queues have not even been able to buy at least a one packet of milk powder.

Nirupama Rajapaksa has gone to London

Media reported that former Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa has left Sri Lanka and went  London, England where her children currently live She has been accused by Pandora papers of making money illegally, and investigations are underway. The Bribery and Corruption Commission obtained statements from her husband, Thiru Nadesan yesterday.

Abdul Razak wins Nobel Prize for Literature

   Abdul Razak Gurna of Tanzania has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Nobel Prize in Literature is awarded by the Swedish Academy. The agency said he would receive the prize this time for “his uncompromising and compassionate analysis of the effects of colonialism and the fate of a refugee due to differences between culture and lifestyle.”

A group is being prosecuted in connection with the death of an Air Force officer

Fifteen people have been charged in connection with the death of a South Korean air force officer. According to foreign sources, the officer had committed suicide after being sexually abused by a colleague. It is said that disciplinary action has been taken against 12 other Air Force personnel for attempting to cover up the incident. The commander of the South Korean Air Force also resigned in June due to public outcry over the incident.

Sri Lanka wins first match with Oman

Sri Lanka won the first Twenty20 match between the touring Sri Lanka team and the Oman team by 19 runs. The Oman captain won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first.
