Shahrukh Khan’s son released on bail

Aryan Khan, son of Indian superstar Shahrukh Khan, has been released on bail after being arrested on charges of having a drugged party on a cruise ship. The bail was granted by the Mumbai High Court, Indian media reported. Indian media has further reported that Aryan Khan will be able to get out of jail tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Facebook name changed

Facebook, one of the world’s leading companies, has reportedly changed its name to “Meta”. The decision was announced at the annual conference chaired by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg yesterday (28). However, the new name does not apply to the company’s Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp applications. According to foreign media, Facebook has decided to change its name as part of its diversification.

Cement shortage for another two months – Importers

Cement importers say the shortage of cement in the market will continue for another two months. After a discussion with the Minister in charge of the subject yesterday (27) they stated that they expect an increase in the price of cement.  Cement importers stated, “This cannot be stopped in two days. It will take two months anyway. The reason for the shortage of cement is the dollar problem. So there could be a slight increase in prices.” With the price of a 50 kg bag of cement is increased by Rs. 93, the price of cement is now Rs. 1,098. However, traders allege that stocks are not being received properly and that such stocks are being received at various prices.

Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thero passes away

The Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, the Chief Justice of the Chilaw Division, Colombo, Ven. The Thera has passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo last night (27). He was 85 years old at the time of his death. Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thero who served as the Chief Incumbent of the Vidyalankara Pirivena in Peliyagoda is considered to have done a great service for the betterment of the Sasana in this country. A spokesman for the Vidyalankara Pirivena in Peliyagoda stated that a decision will be taken regarding how the last rites of the Thero will be performed.

The conditions imposed on Australians will be relaxed

The Australian government has decided to lift the ban on travel abroad without proper permission. Vaccination recommended for children in the United States

 The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the administration of the Pfizer covid vaccine to children between the ages of 5 and 11. To date, Pfizer covid vaccine has been given to people over the age of 12 in the United States. It is reported that 28 million children will be vaccinated with the new recommendation.

Namibia beat Scotland in the 20/20 World Cup Super Round yesterday (27). Namibia won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 109 runs for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs. The Princess Mako who renounces royal privileges for love

 Princess Mako, the granddaughter of the Japanese emperor, has married her school friend and left the royal family, according to foreign media. The couple got engaged a few years ago and the marriage was postponed due to media reports about “Ki Kamuro”‘s mother. As a result, Princess Mako was reported to have developed a mental illness. They are both in their 30s. About 4 years ago, the couple announced their engagement, which was well received by the Japanese people. The Avanguard case completed

  The Case related to floating armoury found in MV Kandy anchored at Galle harbour ordered to complete by Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeewani Pathirana  The Magistrate concluded the case after a motion was moved by OIC of the CID, Robbery Investigation Division, Pannaradhana, Inspector Sugath Kumara. The Inspector General of Police said that the Attorney General had instructed to close the case as there were no charges to be filed against him. After considering all the facts, the Magistrate decided to close the case and ordered to keep the photocopies and release the original documents. 

The government is going to confiscate 400 vehicles imported despite the ban on the importation of vehicles

Nearly 400 imported vehicles have landed at the Port of Colombo despite the ban on the importation of vehicles. The Sri Lanka Customs has sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance inquiring whether the number of vehicles will be confiscated or not.  The Customs Department said in the letter that the vehicles were ordered after the government banned the import of vehicles in September last year and that the vehicles were currently against the law.
