Foreigners arrested with 250 kilos of narcotics

 Another foreign fishing vessel carrying a large haul of narcotics has been seized by the Navy in the international waters. According to the Navy, the consignment of drugs weighed about 250 kilograms and was packed in 225 packets in 9 bags. The Navy said that six foreign suspects were arrested in connection with the incident. Following a tip off received by the Sri Lanka Navy, the Navy in collaboration with the Police Narcotics Bureau conducted this special operation 900 nautical miles off Sri Lanka. It is reported that the foreign fishing vessel carrying the drugs and the six foreign suspects aboard the vessel are being brought ashore under the protection of a Sri Lanka Navy ship.

American dreams are shattered after a container in Mexico overturns

At least 53 people have been killed in a road accident in Mexico, foreign media say. The accident had taken place when a container truck transporting a group of illegal immigrants overturned.  More than 50 people were injured in the crash in Chiapas province, and three others were hospitalized in critical condition.

 Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal got engaged on Thursday. In recent days, rumours of the couple’s marriage have been circulating among Indian film lovers, acknowledging that the long-standing love affair is a success. Justice Minister Ali Sabri says he is ready to take off his pants and go home if he or the current government proves that he has influenced the Attorney General one day. He said the government was committed to upholding the rule of law. He said that the Attorney General’s Department was contacted at Temple Trees by the government of good governance and that the Opposition was trying to show that this was the first time that an Attorney General’s case had been withdrawn. Dollars in the country are only enough for two and a half weeks

Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, W.A. Wijewardene states. He said that compared to the import requirements of the next year, it would be only two and a half weeks. He also pointed out that Sri Lanka’s import requirement for next year will be around the US $ 23 billion. He said this was the worst fall in foreign assets in history and that the government should immediately analyze the situation in the country and decide what to do next. He also points out that the country will face a very difficult situation if it does not receive large amounts of foreign exchange within this month. He said it was too late to go to the International Monetary Fund due to the current situation in the country, adding that the government would have to seek around $ 500 million in foreign exchange from a country like China and the United States.

Yugadanavi’s contract is not with New Fortress but with another company

(JVP) Leader Anura Dissanayake has stated that the agreement to supply shares in the Yugadanavi power plant has been entered into with another company and not with the American company New Fortress. Human skulls and skeletal remains were found in a land belonging to the Chairman of Avangard Company

The human skulls and skeletal remains were found during excavations for a new construction site at the Aluthgama Sinawatta Welipenna Road resort, which is said to belong to the Chairman of Avangard Company. They were examined by the Kalutara Nagoda General Hospital Specialist Judicial Medical Officer, Saiyan Amaratagama Laksena Police, at the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court. The premises belong to the Chairman of Avangard The company bought five perches of land about three months ago from a neighbouring Blog Stone business. Meanwhile, an Avangard official had complained about this to the Aluthgama Police stating that human skulls had been found during an excavation carried out in the area. Acting Magistrate Bandula Weerasinghe of the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court on the instructions of senior police officers inspected the site of the excavation the day after receiving the complaint, Aluthgama Police and the Kalutara CID said. The Aluthgama Police said that the Acting Magistrate had suspended the excavations and ordered the police to deploy security at the site. The police summoned the Kalutara Judicial Medical Officer the next day and ordered the Kalutara CID to seal off the skulls and skeletons found at the scene and take them to the Nagoda Hospital for further investigations.  Police security deployed at the site had been removed after the inspection and permission had been granted to suspend the excavations, police said. The skulls and skeletons are believed to be several years old, a police official said.
