Urea bundle cost over Rs13,000 and 1 kg of urea will cost Rs 300

In the future, a 50 kg bag of urea will cost more than Rs. 13,000 in the local market, according to the Fertilizer Secretariat.  They say this is due to rising urea prices in the world market and rising import costs. At present 20 companies have placed orders to import chemical fertilizers but only a few have been ordered for urea, the Secretariat said.

A body of a 12-year-old girl found in a densly forested area

The body of a 12-year-old girl who went missing in the Udayarkattu Munkilaru area in the Puthukudiirippu police division in Mullaitivu has been found in a jungle area, police said.  The girl’s relatives had informed the Puthukudiirippu Police that a girl residing in the 200 houses area in Munkilaru North had been missing since the evening of the 15th.  Meanwhile, a resident of the Munkilaru area had informed the police yesterday when he saw the body of a girl while going to the jungle. The Puthukudiirippu police who went to the scene later found the body of the missing girl. The body was found in a densely forested area about 200 meters from the girl’s residence. The cause of death of the girl has not been revealed yet The body has been deposited at the Mullaitivu Manchola Hospital morgue for postmortem examination. The deceased has been identified as Yogarasa Nidarshana, a 12-year-old resident of 200 Munkilaru Niwasa area, Puthukudiirippu Police said.

The Maha Sangha and the Public requesting that the letter issued by the Secretary to the Ministry regarding the reinstatement of Dr. Safi Shiabdeen of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and the payment of arrears be revoked. They made this request during a protest in Kurunegala. The manner in which those responsible for the large-scale massacre committed by the doctor concerned were wrong from the very beginning, the chairman of the organization Ven. Central bank urge government to increase fuel prices soon

Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal has written to Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa urging him to increase fuel prices soon. In a letter dated December 10, he said that in the face of the economic crisis facing Sri Lanka, if dollars were used to import fuel, the country would face a major crisis without foreign exchange. Accordingly, petrol should be increased by Rs. 35, diesel by Rs. 24 and kerosene by Rs. 11 immediately and steps should be taken to control fuel demand, he said. However, the Ministry of Finance has not yet responded to this letter. Meanwhile, the issuance of letters of credit has been halted due to the non-issuance of dollars to order sufficient fuel for future fuel needs.

How the country could pay 1300 million for Chinese fertilizer ship, as the country doesn’t even has 300 cents

 Dayasiri Jayasekara says that the country has become unable to pay even 300 cents, as Rs. 13 billion to be paid as compensation for the rejected fertilizer ship Minister of State. The Minister said that the compensation paid should be recovered from the persons responsible for the crime and that it is a national crime to pay such a sum from the wealth of the country. He said this while he was speaking to the media after visiting the Chief Prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya.

This is an end as well as a beginning – Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka while visiting Adam’s Bridge

Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Xi Zheng hong concluded his three-day official visit to the North on the evening of the 17th with a special visit to Point Pedro, Japan and the Adam’s Bridge in Mannar. After meeting the Jaffna fishing community and government officials, the visit ended at the Point Pedro in Jaffna. The Chinese Ambassador and his delegation also observed the seas off Point Pedro using drone cameras, where the Chinese Ambassador inquired about the distance from the tip to India. It is reported that the officials who were there later informed that India is located about 30 km away. The Chinese Ambassador and his entourage then concluded their visit to Jaffna with the Chinese Ambassador giving Particular attention to the Adam’s Bridge between Mannar and India. Later, the Chinese Ambassador and his delegation arrived at the Naval Drift Camp and from there several Navy vessels patrolled Adam’s Bridge. Gao Bing, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, and Lu O Chung, Chief Political Officer will also be present at the event. After travelling 17 nautical miles in the Mannar Sea, the Chinese Ambassador and his entourage observed the Adam’s Bridge. his entourage spent about twenty minutes observing Adam’s Bridge Before returning to the naval base, the Chinese ambassador boarded his official car, commenting to the media, saying that this was the end as well as the beginning. The dune about 30 km from Talaimannar to Dhanushkodi in India is also known as Adam’s Bridge and is also known as Ram Setu by the Indians.  It has 16 small dunes, 8 of which belong to Sri Lanka and the rest to India. Meanwhile, in March, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopala Bagli and a group of people visited Adam’s Bridge and performed religious rites on one of the dunes. In such a situation the Chinese Ambassador inspecting Point Pedro in Jaffna and Adam’s Bridge in Mannar is a special event. The police, navy and army have provided special security for the Chinese ambassador’s visit to the North.

Champions who adorned the motherland with gold and silver medals to the island

The Sri Lankan winners of the World Weightlifting Championship, which was held concurrently with the Commonwealth Games in Tuscan, Uzbekistan, arrived in the island this morning (19). The Sri Lankan athletes who participated in the tournament had won five bronze medals including a gold and a silver. Among them, Srimali Samarakoon of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura representing the Sri Lanka Weightlifting Women’s Team won a gold medal, Thimali Haputenna of the Polonnaruwa Weightlifting Club won a silver medal and Nadeeshani Rajapaksa of the Sri Lanka Air Force won a bronze medal. Chinthana Vidanage and Indika Dissanayake of the Sri Lanka Navy, AUMM Wijesinghe of the Sri Lanka Air Force and Thilanga Palagasinghe of the Polonnaruwa Weightlifting Club won bronze medals representing the Sri Lanka Men’s Weightlifting Team. The Sri Lankan men’s team won the third place at the World Championships.

Large number killed in an explosion in Pakistan

At least 14 people have been killed in an explosion at a bank building in the Pakistani city of Karachi.  Foreign reports said the explosion was suspected to have been caused by a gas leak in a sewer. The death toll from the blast could rise further, Pakistani officials say. Operations are underway to find people trapped in the rubble of the building.

A bus carrying a group of passengers overturns

Seventeen people were injured when a bus carrying a group of passengers overturned. The accident had taken place near the Galode bridge in Padiyathalawa. Police stated that a private bus traveling from Kilinochchi to Kataragama was involved in the accident. The reason behind the accident was the driver was unable to control the bus, police said. The injured have been admitted to the Mahaoya Hospital. The driver of the bus has been arrested in connection with the accident, police said.
