US Vice President Kamala Harris has been criticized for “laughing” at a press conference on Ukraine crisis. US Vice President Kamala Harris smiled inappropriately when asked if the United States would accept Ukrainian refugees, according to a media report. The incident took place during a joint press conference between Mrs. Harris and Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw. The two leaders were asked whether the United States would accept Ukrainian refugees or otherwise help ease pressure on Poland’s human resources. When the reporter had finished speaking, the two looked at each other as if expecting each other to answer first.

  Russia today (RT) International news channel has blocked broadcasting in Sri Lanka. The news channel, which is a Russian state-owned channel, has so far aired in Sri Lanka through Dialog TV. But its broadcasts have been suspended for the past few days. Dialog states that it does not receive the satellite signals required to broadcast the channel.  Russia has blocked certain satellite access to Russian channels due to the Ukraine war.

Another ship carrying diesel and petrol will arrive in Sri Lanka today

Another ship carrying diesel and petrol will arrive in Sri Lanka today (13), the Ministry of Energy said. Its secretary, K.D.R. Ms Olga said the payments had not yet been made. The ship will carry 20,000 metric tons of diesel and 20,000 metric tons of petrol. The ship with 38,300 metric tons of diesel currently unloading at the port will be fully unloaded today (13). She said they were unable to make an oil landing yesterday due to a technical fault. The payment of $ 52 million has already been paid for it.  Due to the increase in the price of crude oil in the world market, an additional $ 16 million had to be paid to obtain that stock of fuel.

Today’s powercut schedule

The Public Utilities Commission has permitted the Ceylon Electricity Board to cut power for 3 hours and 15 minutes today (13) as well..  Accordingly, areas in categories A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L will experience power cuts of 2 hours between 9 am and 5 pm and 15 minutes from 5 pm to 10 pm. The Public Utilities Commission has announced that there will be one-hour power cuts in P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W areas between 5 pm and 9 pm.

The proposal to supply fighter jets to Ukraine has become completely confusing after the Biden administration vetoed Poland’s attempt to hand over a group of MiG-29s to the Ukrainian Air Force.  Poland had earlier said it could provide the US “discarded” jets to Ukraine for “free” access to enhance its defences against Russian aggression. But overnight, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby issued a statement saying it would effectively drag NATO into a confrontation with Russia. Raising that risk, the plan was flatly rejected.

The Tamil Diaspora says it can recover Sri Lanka from the dollar deficit.  Its leader Nimalan Vishwanathan says the Tamil Diaspora has enough dollars to lift Sri Lanka out of dollars. But he says his organization is not prepared to steal money or bribe ministers to bring it to Sri Lanka, and that is the only condition. He also said that the Diaspora had also spent money on Mahinda Rajapaksa’s election. He said this while joining an interview with a youtube channel.

 The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has approved a request made by the CEB for a power cut today (11).  Accordingly, the power cuts are as follows. Lanka IOC has increased fuel prices

Lanka IOC has increased fuel prices with effect from midnight yesterday (10). Accordingly, a liter of diesel has been increased by Rs. 75 and a liter of petrol by Rs. 50, according to Lanka IOC.
