First team of 256 arrives in Sri Lanka for Sigiriya Raid Amazone Tourism Festival

The first team has arrived in the island to participate in the Raid Amazone Tournament, which is considered to be the largest tourist sports festival in Sri Lanka after the covid pandemic. Accordingly, 253 French athletes arrived in Sri Lanka on Flight UL 564 which arrived in Sri Lanka at 4.15 am yesterday (14) from Paris, France. This is to participate in the Raid Amazone Tournament which is considered to be the biggest women’s adventure challenge in the world which will be held from tomorrow (16) in connection with Sigiriya. The French athletes who arrived in the country to participate in the tournament were welcomed at the Katunayake Airport and were joined by officials from SriLankan Airlines, the Department of Airports and Aviation and the Tourism Promotion Bureau. Raid Amazone, the world’s largest women’s adventure challenge, will be held in Sri Lanka in two phases this year. The first phase of the program will run from March 16 to 22 and the second phase from March 28 to April 6.  These events have been organized in Sigiriya, Kaudulla, Medirigiriya, Wewala, Kandalama and Mahawilgamuwa.  This is the 20th Raid Amazone Series to be held in Sri Lanka. SriLankan Airlines is the main airline hosting the Raid Amazone 2022 competition. It is organized in collaboration with the Tourism Promotion Bureau.

Internal protest against Russia – Protesters broke into TV news

A Russian-led anti-war protester interrupted a live news broadcast on Russia’s state television channel on Monday, holding a presenter behind a studio and shouting slogans condemning the war in Ukraine.  The board said in English and Russian: “No war. Stop the war. Do not believe the propaganda. They are lying to you here. “Another phrase like” Russians against war “was partially obscure. “Stop the war, not  war,” shouted the female protester as the newscaster read from her teleprompter. The protester could be seen and heard for a few seconds before switching to another record to remove the channel from the screen. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy recalled and thanked the protester in his nightly video address: “I am grateful to the Russians for not stopping to try to tell the truth. Tell the truth to those who fight against misinformation and tell the truth, to their friends and loved ones, “Zelenskiy said. It is reported that the video of this event has been viewed by more than 2.6 million people.

We are giving maximum assistance to resolve the Indo-Lanka fisheries issue-The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka

During his visit to Jaffna, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagle said that maximum assistance would be given to resolve the Indo-Lanka fisheries issue and that it should be done expeditiously.  The High Commissioner of India participated in the distribution of dry food worth Rs. 5,000 to 600 fishing families affected by the recent Indian Fisheries Conflict and various activities at the Jaffna District Secretariat. Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda was also present at the occasion. Mr. Maheshan and a group of officials from the Jaffna District Fisheries, Aquatic and Aquatic Resources Department. The Indian High Commissioner also participated in the opening of a free artificial limb camp for amputees at the Jaffna District Secretariat. The camp also provides free prosthetic limbs to disabled registrants until March 30.

Accordingly, Three hours and 45 minutes for 12 zones ‘A’ to ‘L’ respectively  Three hours for eight zones from ‘P’ to ‘W’ Cuts off electricity.  ‘A’ to ‘L’ – 8.00am to 6.00pm 2 hours 30 minutes and 6.00pm to 11.00pm 15 minutes ‘P’ to ‘W’ – two hours from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and one hour from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm

Popular YouTube creator Ken Abroad says he is leaving Sri Lanka due to power cuts and the foreign exchange crisis in Sri Lanka. Releasing a video on his YouTube channel account, he points out that he is leaving Sri Lanka as the tour in Sri Lanka is getting worse. He says that power outages in Sri Lanka are seven to eight hours a day and that it has become a serious problem not only for him but also for businesses in the country.  He also points out that many restaurants in the country have been closed. The British Government has issued a stern warning to British tourists visiting Sri Lanka

The British Government has issued a stern warning to British tourists visiting Sri Lanka. If they are planning to visit Sri Lanka, they have pointed out that there is a severe shortage of basic necessities in Sri Lanka, including fuel and food.  They also point out that the economic situation in Sri Lanka is deteriorating due to a shortage of cash to pay for imports.  They also warn of long queues at grocery stores, gas stations and pharmacies. Terrorists have warned that regular power cuts could be counterproductive and that terrorists will try to attack Sri Lanka, although foreign tourist destinations could be targeted.

Earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra this morning

The Meteorological Department says that there is no risk of a tsunami in Sri Lanka due to the earthquake that struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra this morning (14).  Its National Tsunami Warning Center announced that normal life in coastal areas was safe. The Meteorological Department said that the announcement will be made in collaboration with national and international agencies.  At 6.39am a magnitude 6.8 earthquake shook the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

Saudi Foreign Minister arrived in Sri Lanka this morning

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Parhan Al Saud arrived in Sri Lanka this morning on an official visit. one duty manager of the Katunayake Airport said that 17 other members had arrived in the island with the Saudi Foreign Minister. The delegation was received by officials of the Ministry of External Affairs. The Saudi Foreign Minister and his delegation are scheduled to leave the island this afternoon.
