Legal action against Daraz

According to the Consumer Affairs Act, No. 9 of 2003, a warranty period of not less than 6 months should be given for the sale of all electrical and electronic equipment. However, in violation of these rules, daraz, a leading and well-known online company in Sri Lanka, has been selling various electrical appliances without a warranty period and with a warranty period of fewer than six months. The Colombo District Consumer Authority raid unit has taken legal action against Daraz today (March 23) and is due to file a case in the Magistrate’s Court shortly. The Colombo District Consumer Affairs Authority further reports that such investigations are being carried out throughout the district.

The report states that the husband and wife have been giving birth to their son for four months and another woman with her two twelve-year-old children. They have informed the Indian authorities that they are finding it difficult to get food in Sri Lanka. They have stated that a boatman had taken Rs. 50,000 and brought them to the island. They told the Indian Coast Guard that many more were waiting to flee to India by boat. They have been taken to the refugee camp and given food. Further action has been handed over to the police, the report said.
Internet bills will be increased

The service providers have informed the Ministry of Technology that local telephone and internet tariffs will have to be increased. They point out that the rise in the value of the US dollar has led to an increase in related services. International telephone tariffs have already been hiked, and they have called for a significant increase in domestic call and internet tariffs in the future.
Today’s power cut schedule

The Public Utilities Commission has permitted the Electricity Board to cut electricity in 23 zones today. Accordingly, areas in categories A to L will experience power cuts between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, 3 hours and 20 minutes and between 6.00 pm and 11.00 pm for 40 minutes. Areas in categories P to W will experience power cuts of between 10.30 am and 4.30 pm and from 4.30 pm to 9.30 pm for 40 minutes.

Areas in the A to L categories will experience power cuts between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm for 3.00 hours and 20 minutes and between 6.00 pm and 11.00 pm for 1.00 hours and 40 minutes. In addition, there will be power cuts in P to W category areas between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm for 2 hours and 40 minutes and between 5.00 pm and 9.00 pm for one hour.
Economic crisis in Sri Lanka- Fourth death in a petrol station reported in Sri lanka

A man who had come to get fuel from a petrol station in the Mirigama area has fallen unconscious and died yesterday (21). The Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated that the person had arrived at the Co-operative Petrol Station in Mirigama in a three-wheeler with several cans.
