Legal action against Daraz

According to the Consumer Affairs Act, No. 9 of 2003, a warranty period of not less than 6 months should be given for the sale of all electrical and electronic equipment.

However, in violation of these rules, daraz, a leading and well-known online company in Sri Lanka, has been selling various electrical appliances without a warranty period and with a warranty period of fewer than six months.

The Colombo District Consumer Authority raid unit has taken legal action against Daraz today (March 23) and is due to file a case in the Magistrate’s Court shortly.

The Colombo District Consumer Affairs Authority further reports that such investigations are being carried out throughout the district.
