The capital of Indonesia is changing

Indonesia has decided to change its capital. The new capital is named Nusantara.

The current capital, Jakarta, has recently been given the go-ahead by parliament to rename the city after the sinking of the city.

The new capital has been established on the island of Borneo and development began in 2019.

Scientists say the city of Jakarta is sinking unexpectedly due to high groundwater levels. Its population is 10 million.
