The World Health Organization (WHO) says the corona mutation currently found in South Africa is “dangerous.”
They named the variety Omicron. Recognized as one of the most severe covid cultivars with high mutations, the Kovid cultivar was first reported from South Africa on the 24th.
The virus has been reported in Belgium, Hong Kong and Botswana.
Also known as B.1.1.529, this variety was classified by the organization as a species that should be kept in mind. They point out that it has a number of mutations and a high risk of recurrence.
This new covid variety has been named the most mutated variety ever discovered. It has not been long since the outbreak began, and cases have been reported in Botswana, Belgium, Israel and Hong Kong.
The World Health Organization says it will take weeks to understand the impact of the new strain.
However, experts warn that mutations in this strain could lead to vaccine resistance.
Meanwhile, the United States has decided to suspend flights from eight countries on the African continent with effect from next Monday.
