The Health Trade Union Confederation has commenced a strike this morning.

Its convener Saman Ratnapriya says that these steps have been taken against the suspension of allowances including the corona allowance given to health workers.

He said health professionals representing nursing, paramedics, paramedics, clerks and drivers were joining the strike.

He said the government had suspended the supply of corona to health workers and had cut back on facilities, urging the government to take action.
