Police has arrested a brother of the wife of Samagi Jana Balawega MP Rishad Bathiudeen.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the arrest was made in connection with the rape of a 22 year old girl who was a servant at the MP’s official residence.

An interrogation of a woman who had previously worked as a maid at the MP’s house while she was working as a servant has revealed the relevant rape.

The 47-year-old suspect has been arrested and will be produced before court after questioning.
