Sri Lanka has become the first country in the South Asian region to purchase a stockpile of corona Pfizer vaccines.
26,000 doses of the vaccine arrived in the country yesterday morning and the stock of vaccines has been sent to vaccine stores.
The government plans to administrate this as the second dose of the Astazenica vaccine.
However, the UNICEF Maldives Office stated on March 25 that it had delivered 5,800 stocks of Pfizer to the Maldives.
When contacted by a government official, he said that the Maldives had not received a stockpile of vaccines ordered but a stock granted under the World Health Organization’s Kovax program.
