The CID has so far recorded statements from about 20 people regarding the incident of the MV Express Pearl which caught fire near the Colombo harbour, Police Media Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) seized the Voice Data Recorder (VDR) transmission data recording system that records shipping communications
during shipping services with the assistance of the Navy yesterday (June 05).

Ajith Rohana said that the discussions between the parent company of the ship and the local agent were more important for this investigation.

The DIG further stated that special attention will be paid to the instructions given by checking the data here
