The Government Medical Officers’ Association states that it will no longer accept the advice of the Head of the Epidemiology Unit, Mr Sudath Samaraweera.

The union has requested Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to appoint the division under a Deputy Director-General of Health Services; the Assistant Secretary of the Government Medical Officers’ Association Naveen de Zoysa stated at a media briefing held by the Association.

He also said that if the matter requested by him happens, it will be difficult to work under Sudath Samaraweera and that decision will be communicated to his branches.

The association was of the view that the head of the Epidemiology Unit was misleading the government and the entire process by not showing accurate data in the country.
