A stock of Carcinogenic lentils found in Weligama

A expired dhal stock found in the Weligama Multipurpose Co-operative Society contained alpha toxin carcinogens, Weligama Chief Public Health Inspector MMH Nihal said.

He stated this after the forensic reports revealed about the stock. A search was conducted over a complaint received from a customer following the sale of expired yoghurt and they had found about 3,150 kilos of expired dhal hidden in the Weligama Multipurpose Co-operative Society.
