Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka-The government decides to sell shares in “Sri Lankan”

Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that it was decided to call for proposals to award 49 per cent shares of the Sri Lankan Catering Company and its administration and 49 per cent of the airport operations and its administration to an investor.

The Minister stated this in a press conference held today regarding the restructuring of Sri Lankan Airlines.

The minister said that the money received through that will be used to free Sri Lankan Airlines from as much debt as possible.

The minister further stated that the total debt of Sri Lankan Airlines is 1.126 billion dollars which is 401 billion rupees.
