The political crisis in Sri Lanka-MP Johnston Fernando arrived at the CID

MP Johnston Fernando arrived at the CID today (24) to make a statement. He had been informed twice before to which he refused before. But he came after being informed on the third day today.

Johnston dismisses many instances where the police or the judiciary try to interfere with politicians. He had earlier sparked controversy on behalf of his Kurunegala colleague by saying, “I will not let you touch a hair” and that statement also caused problems for the election campaign at that time.

Johnston rose to power in parliament during the 52-day government and fought for Rajapakse’s power. Two or three months ago, he was the closest person to the Rajapaksa family. He was also the most powerful person next to the Rajapaksas on the outside. The President once said, “My blood only boils when Johnston speaks.”

The ‘Gotagogama’ struggle was constantly criticized and his statement that ‘the President will never resign’ caused a stir on social media in those days.

The famous singer Athula Adhikaris’s family, which was not at all related to the case was also involved and criticism arose. The struggle was intensified by these provocative stories.

However, it informed that he was then advised to remain silent. However, he has been widely criticized for planning, promoting and manipulating the offensive against the May 9 struggle. On the night of May 9, people also set fire to several properties belonging to Johnston in various locations.

He was so special to refuse messages from CID. It was reported yesterday that DIG Tilakaratne had stated that he could no longer serve as the CID chief due to pressure from politicians. He was transferred yesterday and Johnston came to the CID today. There were plans to arrest Johnston, but it is questionable whether that will happen today.
