Iranaitivu islands residents protest against burying COVID-19 victims

Co Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella revealed that Iranaitivu Island was chosen as the burial ground of COVID victims yesterday (March 2 ).

Residents of Iranaitvu Island protesting against the government’s decision to bury COVID-19 victims bodies in their residential area today (March 3).

Iranaitivu island is located in the Gulf of Mannar and part of Kilinochchi District. There are 108 families with 335 peoples live in the small island and none of them were reported COVID 19 positve yet.
