A death anniversary of a former LTTE member held in Jaffna Sri Lanka

The 35th death anniversary of Dileepan alias Rasaiya Pardeepan, who is considered to be a former LTTE terror member, was held today (15) near Nallur Temple, Jaffna with the participation of a group of political representatives and a group of people in the area.

The celebration of Dileepan’s virtues was started with the participation of a group of political representatives and people in the area who placed a photo of Dileepan at the place where Dileepan’s memorial was located behind the Nallur Temple.

During the period of September 15 to 26, various parsavas have made arrangements to hold Dileepan’s celebrations in several places in the north.

On September 15, 1987, Dilipan Nohat Rasaiya Partipan started a fast to death behind the Nallur Temple in Jaffna to protest that he would not end his fast until the Indian peacekeeping forces left the country.

During that fast, LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaranda came and asked him to stop the fast, but he did not give up the fast and on September 26 he died due to fasting during the fast.

Even at the time of his death, the LTTE gave him the rank of Lt. Col. and he was then known as Lt. Col. Dileepan.
