According to the United Nations, three out of 10 people in Sri Lanka are food insecure.
In a statement, the United Nations World Food Program says that pregnant and lactating women are suffering greatly in the face of the worst economic crisis Sri Lanka is facing.
The statement also points out that Sri Lanka’s under-five children have a higher rate of malnutrition than other middle-income countries.
The announcement further states that with inflation exceeding 90%, food security has been hampered and millions of people have become victims of food insecurity.
