It has been six months since the gemstone found in Ratnapura area, claimed to be the biggest gem in Asia, was taken to Switzerland for sale.

The Gems and Jewelery Authority states that it has not been able to sell it so far. The chairman of the authority told the media that the value of this gem will exceed 2000 crore rupees.

Under the Gems and Jewelery Act, a gem taken in this way should be brought back to this country within a period of three months, but the corporation has extended it to keep it in Switzerland.
