Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka- An discussion to import eggs from India and one egg can be sold at Rs 20

The rapid increase in the price of eggs in the market is a very unfair situation.

Therefore, the bakery owners’ association requests the government to import eggs from India to control the price.

Its chairman Mr N K Jayawardena mentions that nowadays it costs between 55 and 60 rupees to buy an egg.

He points out that this situation affects the production activities of the bakery owners and it directly affects the nutritional status of the people of this country.

Accordingly, he said that an egg can be imported from India for twenty rupees and he requested the government to import eggs and provide them at a subsidized price.
