A group of ambassadors from European Union countries have met President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

In this regard, the European Union, which is issuing a Twitter message, says that its Union is presenting itself as a partner of Sri Lanka during this challenging period.

The European Union thereby points out that the protection of civil and human rights, as well as the right to freedom of expression and protest above all, are extremely important.

They said they agree that joint action is needed to bring Sri Lanka back on track. The European Union noted that the European Union encouraged the President to pay special attention to three of the current actions on foreign affairs.

Accordingly, it is further stated in the tweet issued by the European Union that it hopes that the government will take a firm step to make the processes of GSP+, IMF and Human Rights Council successful.
