The divorce of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Al Maktoum and his wife has become the largest ransom in the history of British law.
The ruler of Dubai had to pay his wife 500 million in divorce compensation.
The youngest of the six wives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, is 47-year-old Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein.
She is the daughter of Hussein, the former king of Jordan. Princess Haya married Maktoum in 2004 and the marriage ended in 2019.
The couple also has two children from their marriage. Princess Haya, who fled to Britain with her two children out of fear of her husband in April 2019, has filed for divorce in a London court against Maktoum.
The ruler of Dubai has been ordered to pay around 5 550 million to settle the divorce with Princess Haya and her two children.
Judge Philip Moore said most of the money would be used to pay for the threat posed by the ruler of Dubai to Princess Haya and her two children.
