Government is ready to transfer SriLankan Airlines to the private sector

It is reported that the government is considering transferring SriLankan Airlines to the private sector.

SriLankan Airlines currently has five divisions, of which the ground operations division and the cargo division generate about US $ 100 million a year in revenue.

It is also reported that the service is losing money due to the increase in aircraft lease payments, fuel costs and other expenses.

One aircraft had to pay between $ 5-8 million a month in lease installments and 25% of the total cost for fuel.

As the loss of SriLankan Airlines has become a huge burden to the country, the government has decided to retain a certain number of shares and transfer the rest to the private sector.

It is learned that a decision in this regard is to be taken by the 9th.
