Protest in the North Sri Lanka against Indian fishermen

Fishermen in the Northern Province  staged a protest demanding an end to fishing by Indian fishermen encroaching on Sri Lankan waters today.

Fishermen from the Northern Province used about 100 boats from Mullaitivu to Point Pedro to protest.

The protest was organized to demand an end to the fish trade by Indian fishermen and the attacks on Sri Lanksn fishermen by Indian fishermen and damage to nets.

The protesters also said that fishermen in the Northern Province were facing a severe crisis due to the lack of a permanent solution to the Indian fisheries problem that had existed for many years.
