A body of a student studying at the Jaffna University Medical Faculty was found in her house

The body of a student studying at the Jaffna University Medical Faculty was found in her house on the 11th, Jaffna Police said.

The body of 21-year-old Sharunika, a first-year medical student from Chunnakam, was found in her living room, police said.

She was a gifted student at Chunnakam Uduvil Girls’ School and was the first medical student to be admitted to the university from that school.

The cause of death of the student has not been revealed yet and the police have commenced investigations to find out whether it was a suicide or a murder.

However, the body has been placed at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for an autopsy and the police suspect that the student may have committed suicide due to mental stress during her studies.
