By the end of September, there will be a significant reduction in the number of patients in the country, said Dr Chandima Jeewandara of Jayewardenepura University.
He said it would take another two weeks to reduce the number of infections and deaths, adding that this was his personal opinion.
He also says that if no new strains are reported in the country by mid-October, the number of cases will be reduced.
