A decomposing body was found floating in the sea near the Sangupidy Bridge in Pooneryn, Kilinochchi today (30), Poonaryn Police said.

 A group walkedon the Sangupiddy bridge saw the body floating in the sea After informing the Poonaryn Police, the police went to the scene and took steps to retrieve the body.

Upon examination of the exhumed body, it was not possible to identify the body as it was badly decomposed Police suspect that it was a murder as the body was wrapped in a fishing net and thrown into the sea.

The body was taken to the Kilinochchi Hospital for an autopsy after the magistrate’s inquest.
