Non-perishable lunch sheet ban from today

The Ministry of Environment states that only biodegradable lunch sheets can be sold in all shops with effect from today (01).

Non-perishable lunch sheets made of polythene will be banned from today and their production and distribution will also be banned, the ministry said.

However, the government recently gave a one-month grace period for the sale of only lunch sheets currently in production, during which time the production and distribution of lunch sheets made of polythene was completely banned.

The Ministry of Environment stated that the Central Environmental Authority and the Consumer Affairs Authority have launched special operations to find out whether non-perishable lunch sheets are still being produced.

The ministry further stated that the law will be strictly enforced against anyone who manufactures and distributes them in defiance of orders.
