Minister of State Channa Jayasumana said covacs 8,460 doses of Astrazenica vaccine provided by Japan through the covacs program will be delivered to Sri Lanka this evening and a similar number will be received next Saturday.
The first dose will be given to those who have received Astrazenica (Covishield) as the first dose and the rest will be sent to the Kegalle District Vaccination Program.
Also, 513,820 doses of covid 19 vaccines were given yesterday.
As a result, Sri Lanka has become the most vaccinated country in terms of population with the number of doses given yesterday and the day before alone exceeding one million.
