Popular actress Hyacinth Wijeratne (75) was died after her van overturned on a precipice, Lidula Police said.

The accident took place at around 12.10 am on the 31st near the Lidula town on the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road.

The van was traveling from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo when the van veered off the road near the town of Lidula and overturned into a 200-foot precipice near Kotmala Oya.

Police stdiedthat the actress had already diead she was admitted to the hospital.

The driver of the van was not injured and the driver of the van was arrested by the Lidula Police on suspicion.

The Lidula Police stated that the accident had taken place due to the driver falling asleep and that the arrested driver would be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court.
