Former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra has sent a letter to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa regarding the release of former parliamentarian Duminda Silva under a presidential pardon.
She points out that it is the responsibility of the rulers to uphold the existing law of the land. .
In the letter, she questions what is the meaning of having a law in this country, if the President makes the final decisions by throwing a decision made by seven judges in the trash.
The letter also states that he would not be surprised if Duminda Silva is brought into politics as the Chief Ministerial candidate in a future election.
