Four individuals injured and hospitalized after a fight between two fishermen groups; five arrested

Four individuals have been hospitalized after an argument between two groups of fishermen at Iranapalai in Mullaitivu yesterday (May 31) and five others have been arrested, Mullaitivu Police said.

An argument between two groups of fishermen in Iranapalai and Matalan areas over the theft of prawns from shrimp cages made by fishermen has escalated to an assault and has been attacked by both sides with sharp weapons.

Four fishermen who were injured in the incident have been admitted to the Mullaitivu Hospital and five fishermen have been arrested for assault, Mullaitivu Police said.
