US President Joe Biden has ordered US intelligence to investigate and report on the origins of the coronavirus.

He called on intelligence to double the number of active operations over the source of the controversy over how and when the coronavirus originated and report back to him within 90 days.

The first case of coronavirus was reported in late 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.

Authorities say the spread of the virus began in an animal market in China but the United States has repeatedly said the virus was spread from a laboratory.

In response, China blamed the United States for the spread of the virus.
