A train hits bus in Talaimannar; One person dead, several injured

A train hit a private bus at the railway crossing in Talaimannar at around 2.30 p.m. today ( March 16). The train was traveling from Colombo Fort to Talaimannar.

One person was dead and nearly 20 others were left wounded and hospitalized. The wounded passengers were admitted to the Mannar Hospital. It is reported that two of them were in critical condition.

The driver of the bus has been taken into police custody and Mannar Police is conducting further investigations.
