Corona deaths have risen by 48% and infections increased by 30%. The public has to find their protection by stating at home – Dr Sudarshani Fernandopulle

Corona deaths have risen by 48% and this month is the most dangerous State Minister of Corona Suppression Specialist Dr Sudarshani Fernandopulle states. The Minister said that the number of cases of corona infections has increased by 30% today and urged the people not to leave their homes except for a matter of urgency. She said the only cure for corona was to prevent infection and people should not wait for the government or anyone to legislate. She added that the public has a responsibility to protect their families and called on the public to stop all unnecessary travel.

Around 5,000 infections have reported daily since the 5th and officials are changing the data- Mohamed Muzammil

Jathika Nidahas Peramuna media spokesman Mohamed Muzammil says that the data on the spread of the corona pandemic is changing. He said that a high ranking officer of the Army and two specialists in the Epidemiology Unit were involved in the incident and the Army Commander could find these persons if required. He said that 5415 cases of infections have been reported in the country on the 11th and more than 5000 cases have been reported in the country since the 5th of this month. He made these comments at a press conference held at the party headquarters.

There isn’t any decision to close the country yet – President

  President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has stated that he has not taken any decision to close the country. He has stated this at a discussion held with senior officials of the Ministry of Health yesterday. The President has instructed the Ministry of Health to expedite PCR tests to determine whether people with chronic diseases over the age of 60 are infected with the virus. These steps are meant to save people who are over the age of 60 from death since the majority of people who die from corona infection are over the age of 60.

Sri Lanka will reach 18000 covid 19 related death by the next January- World Health Organization (WHO)

The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that around 18,000 people will die of covid infections by January next year if the current number of deaths and infections in Sri Lanka continues to rise. This is stated in a report prepared by the Sri Lanka Office of the World Health Organization with the participation of specialist doctors.  The report was handed over to the Ministry of Health yesterday (12th). A number of recommendations have been made to protect Sri Lankans from this situation.Some of them are;Tightening travel restrictionsImposing district travel restrictions instead of provincial travel restrictionsImposing curfews for a short period of timeBanning all public events for three weeksPreventing public gatheringsProtecting health workersEducating the public about effective communications programsInfections and It recommends the correct deathVaccination of those over 60 years of age.

Is Yoshitha’s gas company coming to the local market?

Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Yoshitha Rajapaksa has denied reports that his own gas company is preparing to start a business in Sri Lanka in the near future. He says that there is a rumor that the reason for the gas shortage in the country is a basic plan by his own gas company to take over the local gas market and he completely rejects it. He added that some people were once again trying to deceive the public by creating fake news with attractive headlines.

Sri Lanka reported 156 covid 19 related deaths

Another 156 corona deaths are confirmed by the Director General of Health. It is the highest daily death toll ever recorded in the country. At the same time the number of corona deaths in the country has risen to 5620.

Sudarshani Fernandopulles sons wedding cancelled

The wedding of the son of State Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle, which was scheduled to be held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo today, has been canceled. The move follows new health guidelines issued by the government, due to wide spread of Corona virus.  However, the wedding is planned to take place in a church with only a few family members.

Laugfs gas cylinder price increased

The Consumer Affairs Authority has allowed the company to increase the price of Laugfs gas cylinders. Accordingly, permission will be granted to increase the price of a 12.5 kg gas cylinder from Rs. 1,856 to Rs. 363 and a 5 kg gas cylinder from Rs. 743 to Rs. 145. The company stopped importing gas, saying an increase in gas prices was essential.  However, the government says that the price of Litro gas will remain the same.
