He also said that he was only working to fulfill the promises made by his father to the people during the election campaign in Kurunegala.  He has also stated that he rejects reports that he will contest for the post of Chief Minister in the forthcoming North Western Provincial Council election. He said that although he was not involved in politics, he was involved in social projects for the benefit of the people. He further stated that he is invited to get good intentions and not with the intention of getting votes

The giant ship coming to the Colombo port

 The world’s largest container ship ‘EVER ACE’ is scheduled to arrive at the Port of Colombo tomorrow (05). The ship can travel to only 24 ports in the world, including the Port of Colombo. The Ports Authority informs that this is the maiden voyage of the ship ‘EVER ACE’ entering the Port of Colombo. This is a significant milestone in the history of Sri Lankan Merchant Shipping, the Ports Authority said.

Easter attack case adjourned

The trial is set to resume on November 23 in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attack. The case was taken up before a three-judge bench comprising Justices Damith Thotawatte, Amal Ranaraja and Navaratne Marasinghe this morning (04). The indictments were handed over to the 24 accused before the Colombo High Court. One of the accused had not been produced in court today due to infection with the covid-19 virus. The lawsuit was filed against 23,270 people, including conspiracy to commit suicide bombing, aiding and abetting suicide bombings targeting Christian churches and tourist hotels on Easter Sunday, 2019.

Sri Lanka will be self-sufficient in turmeric by the end of this year- The Department of Export Agriculture

The Department of Export Agriculture states that Sri Lanka will be self-sufficient in turmeric by the end of this year. Its Director General, M.P. Mr. Heenkenda states that by the end of this year, the country will receive about 8,000 tons of dry turmeric and the annual requirement of dry turmeric in Sri Lanka is about 7,500 metric tons. Accordingly, a period of self-sufficiency in turmeric will commence as the wholesale turmeric will be available in the country by December, he said.
