stocks of 40 drugs are limited

The Ministry of Pharmaceutical Products Supply and Regulation states that the stocks of 40 types of drugs in government hospitals will be sufficient for another three weeks only. Its Secretary Dr. Saman Ratnayake stated that arrangements have been made to bring all these drugs to the island as soon as possible.  He also stated that two types of drugs are not available in government hospitals at present.

Foreign media have reported that the government has lost its majority after the MQM party, which backed Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, decided to support the opposition in the no-confidence motion.  Pakistan’s opposition political parties have filed a joint no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Current Economic Crisis Sri Lanka – 3G-4G services disrupted in Sri Lanka

It is reported that 3G-4G services have been disrupted in several mobile phone companies providing internet services in the country. This is due to prolonged power cuts and inadequate communication towers for power generators due to fuel shortages.  This situation has arisen in several companies and consumers have been severely inconvenienced by it. Meanwhile, several foreign channels broadcasting in Sri Lanka through satellite technology have suspended their services due to the foreign exchange crisis in the country.

The economic crisis in Sri Lanka- All the Private Buses will be out of service

The Private Bus Owners’ Association states that the operation of private buses is facing a serious problem due to the shortage of fuel. Accordingly, all private buses will have to be taken out of service within the next two days, said the President of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne. “The diesel crisis has seriously affected private buses. We have a problem with when diesel will arrive. So we make it clear that we do not expect to meet in the next two or three days. However, by Monday we will have to stop all buses. Because we need diesel to run buses. We cannot run buses on the water without diesel. The supply of diesel from SLTB  has been neglected. I was informed that there were plans to hold protests, especially at certain bus stops. ”

Sri Lankan Fuel Crisis: School Transport Services Association said that they will refrain from providing services from next Friday

The All Ceylon Inter-District School Transport Services Association said that they will refrain from providing services from next Friday (1st April) if the fuel crisis is NOT resolved immediately. The Chairman of All Ceylon Inter-District School Children Transport Services Association, N.M.K Harishchandra Padmasiri said despite not receiving any support, they are engaged in transporting school students considering the fact of examinations and academics. He warned that if a favorable solution is NOT provided by Friday (1), they will refrain from their services.

Fuel Crisis affecting water supply

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has warned that it would not able to supply water to many areas if it does not receive Diesel for the generators that are used to generate electricity at Treatment Plants, during power outages. Deputy General Manager for the Western (Central) Region A. K. Kapuruge speaking to News 1st said that the supply of water to Piliyandala, Pannipitiya, Maharagama, Hokandara, and Battaramulla will be affected. At the same time, the demand for water has increased due to the arid weather conditions affecting the island. The National Water Supply and Drainage Board urges the general public to use water sparingly.
