The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to pay $ 6.7 million for the shipment of fertilizer from China to Sri Lanka. Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has told the Sunday Times that he is ready to solve the problem by paying 75% of the value of the fertilizer stock. The Minister has stated that there is no need to create a diplomatic problem with China due to this fertilizer spill. Accordingly, a proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval, the Minister said.

A fire at a Macdonald restaurant in Colombo
